This is difficult to believe and will take some time getting used to, but David has finally retired from the Navy after 36 years. He joined in September 1968, the year of Flower Power and the French student riots. It was also the only year in the 20th Century that a British serviceman wasn't killed in action.
What's next? Well, he's looking for a job. All offers considered.
Good luck, big brother, and CONGRATULATIONS!

I had not realised it was as long as 36 years. Well done, David. You deserve to retire on a pension which I reckon will at least equal my current salary! Could it be even more than Amway?
Your length of service makes me even more determined to complete my last two years in teaching (can retire on full pension in 2006) and get to 37 years. A former colleague has been tempting me to go a year early, telling me it would cost me about £12 a month in pension, but it would cost a lot more in lost salary for the 2 terms up to April 2006. I intend to go through to Summer 2006 to get my July/August salary for doing nowt!
Hope you see this before your grand world trip. Have an excellent holiday.
