  The George Bush Monument
Posted by Cat - 2550 Reads

Today was warm but the sun never came out.

Around 3 p.m. we decided to go downtown and check
out the new George Bush (#41) Monument in
Sesquicentennial Park. It was quite magnificent,
and long overdue. His statue faces the city
skyline
, and is surrounded by four panels depicting
four important stages of his life: World War II,
politics, the end of the Cold War, and his son's
inauguration. There's not a lot of stuff to read,
and it's all very simple and pleasant, with places
to sit and ponder. You can go there any time
(24/7 I believe they call it these days). It
was sad to see a security guard sitting there.
I hope the City won't find it necessary to station
one round the clock.

LOVE the pictures, especially the one overlooking the city skyline. I need to go check that out.
