It seems a little strange that Jim enrolled at Birmingham University and spends a large amount of his spare time surfing.  In February the University Surf Club competed in North Cornwall when there was ice on the beach.  In March the team got into the second round of the University championships which is, apparently, unusual for Birmingham.

Word has it now, however, that he will be spending next year in California.  He has won a place at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and will be reading Meteorology and Oceanography.  Congratulations are in order as apparently only one percent of overseas students get accepted there.

My photo files are a little thin when it comes to nephews and nieces.  I did, however, fish one out of Jim during his visit to Houston in the summer of 2001.  Here he is taking a nap on a Galveston beach.
